Glowing, youthful skin isn’t just genetics, it’s also because of a good skincare routine. What was previously considered feminine is now also of great interest among men. Why not? We all want to look good.

Good skincare is a powerful tool against acne, wrinkles and even sun damage. It is more than just washing your face with whatever soap you have and hope for the best. As with everything else, it takes commitment and a little experimentation before you find the right products for you.

There’s a big difference between hearing someone say “Wow, your skin looks great!” as opposed to, “Have you slept enough?”.

Below is a quick and easy skincare routine that we recommend. We’ve also picked out some of the best products for men.

Step 1: Facial Cleanser

Clean skin has always says been associated with a dry and squeaky feeling. However, the skin on your face needs special attention so as not to become tight and lifeless.

Use a specific facial cleanser that contains moisturizing ingredients, but still has a dose of salicylic acid that controls the oil. Wash your face in the morning and before bed.

Step 2: Eye Cream

Eye cream is like the Swiss Army knife in a man’s skincare routine – it’s a simple tool that can solve many problems. Dark rings? An eye cream can help get rid of them. Eye bags? The right eye cream can effectively reduce the swelling. Wrinkles? A good eye cream can also help get rid of the lines.

The skin around the eyes is thinner than in the rest of the face and therefore needs more concentrated ingredients. Use an eye cream in the morning and evening after cleansing for best results.

Step 3: Moisturiser

Men usually hate applying moisturiser as they make the face feel icky-sticky. We can understand that. But the more sticky the cream is, the better it helps to moisturise the skin.

Nowadays there are good moisturizing face creams on the market that give a good effect, at the same time as they feel light on the skin.

Step 4: SPF

You should wear sunscreen every day, even when the sun isn’t shining as UV rays are still there. They do not only cause skin cancer but are also the biggest factor in our skin’s ageing.

Many men do not wear it for the same reason as with moisturizing creams. However, that is no longer an excuse. Sunscreen is the most effective anti-ageing product we have on the market.

Extra steps for an extra radiant skin

Once or twice a week, men should also include a mask and/or exfoliation in their skincare routine.

There are different masks for different types of skin problems. The best type of masks for men, especially beginners, are clay or charcoal masks. These masks go deep and clean your pores and remove built-up dirt, oil and debris.

Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This opens the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. A regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy.

However, there can be too much of a good thing, and it’s not hard to over-exfoliate your skin. Do not over-exfoliate — it can lead to redness, irritation, and may leave the skin patchy, flaky and dehydrated.

Going forward, we recommend exfoliating just 1-2 per week.
