With a strange previous year, menswear has become more interesting. The way men dress is slowly getting more colourful, more adventurous and less constrained by old rules and dress codes.
This season is full of optimism and hope. Pastel colours, prints, loose fit and even pyjamas to wear during the day are in.
Here’s our edit of the most trendy must-haves in Menswear Spring/Summer 2021:
Bomber Jacket
The bomber jacket, one of the classic men’s fashion items, comes back in style in 2021. They are functional and dependable, and can easily add an element of elegance to your style. Combine your jacket with the right pair of sneakers for a sophisticated casual look. Or dress it up with a shirt for a smart-casual look.
Loafers
Weejuns are it. It can be dressed-up and dressed-down, worn with or without socks, and only look better once broken in. Loafers are the best way to stay stylish while also keeping comfortable.
Plain White T-shirt
The key to a well-curated wardrobe is a solid foundation of basics. And there is nothing more basic than a plain white t-shirt.
There’s only so much you can do to a plain white t-shirt. Regardless of your age, location, or occupation, you own at least a few t-shirts in different colours, but I think we can all agree that nothing beats a clean white tee.
Whether it’s a crew neck or v-neck, a plain, white, short-sleeved t-shirt is essential because they’re super comfortable, timeless, and everyone wears them.
Sunglasses
Sometimes all it takes is the right pair of sunglasses to take your fit from regular to elegant. It’s that time of year when the sun shines bright and we all start wearing sunglasses to protect our eyes and obviously to look cool as well.
Oxford Shirt
If you don’t own an Oxford shirt, we can tell you plenty of reasons why you should. Not only is it easy-to-wear, but you also won’t feel out of place wearing one to the pub or office. It is very versatile and easy to wear. This core piece can be easily mixed and matched with other items to create a smart or casual look.
Take advantage of the warmer weather in a short sleeve Oxford shirt or roll the sleeves up for a much-relaxed look. Want to look stylish yet relaxed at the weekend? Simply pair your Oxford shirt with khaki chinos, white sneakers and a cool pair of sunglasses.
Linen Suit
Sharpen up your look with a breathable linen suit. This will ensure you maintain your dapper standards and keep you cool at the same time. Whether you go for a slightly slouchier style or stick to a regular fit, there is no doubt a linen suit will last you all season. Whether you’re in the office or heading to a laid-back wedding, comfort is key.
White Sneakers
Your shoe collection might include running shoes, formal shoes, and loafers, but there’s one shoe that absolutely belongs in your closet. The simple monochromatic white sneakers combine versatility and fashion to make for a timeless piece, and almost everyone rocks their own version of it.
They can be worn in almost every instance, even at weddings especially with a linen suit. White pairs well with everything and is definitely an attention grabber. Though it may be impossible to keep them clean every day, getting them a little dirty can be an edgy look as well.
Chinos
If you’re looking for smart-casual trousers, chinos are it. Falling nicely between the ease of denim and the formalness of suit trousers, a pair of chinos is a must for any man’s day-to-night wardrobe.
They are among the most versatile of men’s pants. They look great with a t-shirt, a sweater and button-down, or can be dressed up for a business casual event. They’re the perfect alternative to jeans since they are more comfortable and breathable especially in warmer weather.
Gilet
The idea of a sleeveless jacket is by no means new. The style has been around since Medieval times. It’s been the perfect layer to add warmth for those who like to be outdoors without restricting movement.
Gilets are usually lightweight and simple, with a streamlined look. Neutral tones work well and mean maximum versatility. Which means you can wear it again and again. Any man should have one.
Overshirt
Also known as a shacket, the overshirt is an often-overlooked staple item. It is quite possibly the answer to all your springtime and wardrobe dilemmas in one clothing.
The great thing about an overshirt is that it bridges the gap between summer and winter. When it’s sunny yet chilly out, it’s basically a jacket; once it gets cold and gloomy, it’s light enough to fit under a coat.
Polo Shirt
A polo shirt has come a long way from the tennis court. It is now considered to be an essential item in any man’s wardrobe during warmer weather. It is casual yet sophisticated. It’s a jack of all trades and a great alternative to a shirt.
Warmer weather is definitely not far off. And If you haven’t already, it’s time to prepare your closet for the impending nice weather.
